OHRIA Making Strides With Dialogue, Two-Tiered Campaign

In a release issued today (Thursday), the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association (OHRIA) reiterated that a strong, unified message is being sent to the Ontario Government and the public to reinforce the importance and the economic benefits of the horse racing industry in Ontario

.

Immediately following Dwight Duncan’s February 13 announcement and the subsequent release of the Drummond Report, OHRIA hired a Public Relations Firm and a Lobbyist Group, funded by OHRIA Members, to advise and execute a strategic two-tiered campaign which involves both grass-roots and behind the scenes communication.

“OHRIA has been inundated with emails and phone calls from individuals and organizations within the industry who have some very good ideas and initiatives.” notes Sue Leslie, President and Chair of OHRIA, “OHRIA is working with our lobbyist and public relations experts to execute a strategy to bring about the best result. OHRIA, along with our industry members and allies, are continuing to do all that it can for the horse racing industry in Ontario.

"While we feel we are making some progress in certain areas, we cannot rest on any accomplishments that are being made. OHRIA is committed to continue with a vigourous campaign which is continually evolving as new information or comments surface from the Liberal Government,” continued Leslie, “You can rest assured that OHRIA is working very hard and we ask that the industry and its stake-holders remain focused and continue to spread the same unified message of the economic benefits of the horse racing and breeding industry in Ontario."

In an effort to keep industry members and organizations informed, OHRIA has posted all Notices to the Industry as well as Fact Sheets and Press Releases on its website. To compliment this effort a new website, value4money.ca is launching soon.

OHRIA is encouraging all Members of OHRIA to inform their members and the industry by directing them to the information posted on www.ohria.com. Direct inquiries or for additional information please contact the OHRIA office at 416-679-0741 or [email protected].

As part of the ongoing Grass Roots Campaign, OHRIA would like to take this opportunity to remind the industry to continue to send your letters to Premier Dalton McGuinty, Minister Dwight Duncan, as well the opposition party leaders, and your local MPPs. Their contact information is available here.
