Guns An Roses, who carries a two-race win streak, will be a top contender in the $40,000 second leg of the Cam Fella Pacing Series, set for Saturday evening at Woodbine Racetrack

The four-year-old son of Life Sign-Best Lady captured his first division in 1:51.3 for co-owner/breeder Joanne Colville, who co-owns with her daughter, Emma Christoforou, while Colville’s father, Frank, handles the training.
Colville's decision to nominate Guns An Roses to the Cam Fella Pacing Series came after the brown gelding, who earned $99,170 last season, scored his lifetime mark.
“We weren’t sure if he was going to be able to go with these types of horses, but we decided to give him a shot, especially after he took his 1:50.3 record in the Grassroots semi-final. He’s proven himself,” Colville said.
Colville’s High Stakes Inc.-bred has amassed $141,220 in career earnings to date.
“He’s the type of horse that races better when he’s in the mix of things. That’s when you get the best performance out of him,” Colville noted. “He’s starting to show some of his mother's back-class (Best Lady p,1:51.4 - $276,915).”
Colville also believes that giving Guns An Roses the appropriate time off in the fall was instrumental to the recent success he’s enjoyed, namely earnings of $42,050 from just six starts (three wins) in 2012.
“That was the best thing we could have done for him,” Colville said. “He really matured, filled out and grew into himself. He’s just a nice-sized horse and it looks like we did everything right to bring him back in the right form. So far, it’s paying off and hopefully that continues.”
When Guns An Roses begins from Post 1 in the second of two divisions Saturday night, Colville will hand the lines to fiancé, driver Jack Moiseyev.
“Jack seems to get along well with him,” Colville said.
“I know he thought quite a bit of him when he took his lifetime best and it looks like that’s continued. If not, we’ll have to make a driver change,” she said with a laugh.
The Cam Fella Pacing Series is for four and five-year-old pacers in 2012, who are non-winners of $150,000 lifetime as of midnight December 31, 2011. The $100,000 final is scheduled for Saturday, March 10.
