It’s been a long time between drinks, so to speak, for the 2007 Meadowlands Pace winner Southwind Lynx
who cruised to a solid score at Dover Downs on Monday.
The George Teague trainee pulled Tim Tetrick to 1:49.1 victory in the 2007 edition of that $1 million event at the Meadowlands, and added one more win to his resume that season when he captured the $134,265 final of the James B. Dancer at Freehold Raceway.
Southwind Lynx returned to the races the following year as a four-year-old, and things started well for the son of Real Artist who reeled off a 1:50.4 tally in his first start of the season at the Meadowlands. He came up empty, however, in his next 11 starts during that 2008 campaign.
The career winner in excess of $1.4 million was put back in training after spending his 2009 in the breeding shed at Walnut Hall Ltd. in Kentucky, and in last week’s return race he was a determined runner-up at Dover Downs. He lit the lamp on Monday evening for Tim Tetrick, who took the classy campaigner down-the-road en route to a 1:52 tally in a $25,000 conditioned event.
It was the ninth lifetime victory for Southwind Lynx, who is owned by K And R Racing LLC of Houston and Teague Inc. of Harrington, Delaware.
