While it's not uncommon for Flamboro Downs to be the only track operating in Canada on a Sunday night, this Sunday, Feb. 11, the Ontario oval will be the only track in North America conducting live harness racing while the National Football League conducts its championship game.

Holding a 12-race card, Flamboro Downs will offer an opportunity to watch and wager on something other than the 'big game' down in Las Vegas.

“We will have a 12-race card and there will be our usual guarantees on our Pick 5s,” said Chad Gates, Flamboro Downs General Manager. “So, there are many wagering opportunities for [players].”

Racing on the Sunday of the NFL's league championship contest isn’t anything new to Flamboro Downs, which has done it for years now, keeping up with its tradition as one of the few tracks that opt to race on Sunday evenings, in general.

“We’ve always run [that] Sunday,” said Gates. “One of the reasons for that is for the horsepeople and to allow them to race for the allocated purse money. Secondly, is to showcase the Ontario racing product. With the limited number of racetracks that do race at nights on Sunday, we are able to show our Ontario racing product to the rest of the world.

“It really opens up the door for us to showcase our product of Flamboro Downs and for Ontario Racing.”

First post time for Sunday's card is at 6:55 p.m. ET. Free programs are always available on the Flamboro Downs website. For entries, click the following link: Sunday Entries - Flamboro Downs.
