The win streak is now three-in-a-row for Stonebridge Diablo, who romped to his second consecutive victory in the $18,400 Preferred Trot

at Western Fair Raceway.

The OSS graduate was an easy winner in Monday’s main event at the London, Ontario half-miler for trainer Ron Waples Jr. and driver Ross Battin. Surprisingly, despite his recent success he was sent off as a 6-1 outsider.

Battin brushed the streaking seven-year-old son of Angus Hall to the front before the field hit the mid-way point, and once cleared it was lights out for the competition. Stonebridge Diablo marched off to win by a comfortable margin in a time of 2:02.4 over a track that was rated “Good” with a two-second allowance.

Frenchfrysngravy completed the Angus Hall-sired Exactor while The Prowler tagged along to round out the top three in the eight-horse affair.

Waples shares ownership on the 21-time winner with his younger brother, Randy Waples, Dr. Sheila Atmore and Alan Kirschenbaum. The lion’s share of the purse lifted his lifetime bankroll to $558,911.

After a second-place finish in her latest outing, A Fiesty Affair quickly found her way back to victory lane thanks to an eye-catching score in today’s $15,200 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace for the tandem of trainer Casie Coleman and driver Brad Forward.

Forward rolled the four-year-old Camluck miss through splits of :29, :59.1 and 1:29 before cruising home in :30.3 to post the 1:59.3 decision over Pride Of Dilinger and Just Her Way.

Sent off as the 4-5 choice, A Fiesty Affair picked up the 13th win of her career while pushing her overall cash stash to $269,742 for owner/breeder Bob Hamather of Exeter, ON.

Button Up won as he pleased in the $12,800 Preferred-2 Pace for the Horner brothers – trainer Mark and driver Mike. The six-year-old son of Northern Luck went gate-to-wire in a time of 1:59.1.

He laid down panels of :28.2, 1:00 and 1:30 before sailing home in :29.1 en route to holding off pocket sitter Three Cents by three-quarters of a length. Cuban Seelster, who pressed the pace from first over, held on to finish third.

Sure Gain Stable of Mitchell, ON owns the 17-time winner, who now boasts $461,866 in lifetime earnings.
