I Did It Myway overcame an outside post and overland trip to win on Thursday night, Feb. 8 for back-to-back victories in the $37,162 Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover.

Mack was the quickest off the starting gate at the beginning of the race. I Did It Myway left from post eight and retreated to the pylons in fourth position. Sir Issac Newton was not content to sit along the pylons. He rushed to the top passing the quarter in a rapid :26.1. Mack gladly accepted the pocket trip.

Sir Issac Newton continued on the lead and slowed down the pace through a :29 flat panel, reaching the half in :55.1.

I Did It Myway, the 3-2 betting favourite, angled to the outside from fourth and steamrolled up the backstretch in pursuit of Sir Issac Newton. The two hooked horns after a :27.4 quarter, reaching the three-quarters in 1:23.

At the top of the stretch, Issac Newton became leg weary. I Did It Myway remained on the rim and Sprocket rocketed three-wide while Mack waited for room along the pylons. I Did It Myway powered to the top in deep stretch and won by a hard-fought length in 1:50.3. He paced the final quarter in :27.3 and paid an even $5 for the win. Sprocket finished second and Mack picked up the show payoff.

I Did It Myway (Captaintreacherous-Flyme To The Moon) is owned by David Hamm, Evm Racing LLC and Glenn R. Phillips, all from Delaware. Chuck Crissman Jr. trained and Corey Callahan drove the the five-year-old millionaire pacer.

Bally’s Dover races Monday through Thursday with a post time of 4:30 p.m.
