Slick Artist A took advantage of outstanding early position and shot the Lightning Lane to capture Wednesday’s (Feb. 8) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,100 fillies & mares conditioned pace.
Sent off from post seven at 6-1, Slick Artist A was able to drop in second for Ridge Warren behind Lydeo, who was determined to set the fractions. But Lydeo, who hadn’t raced since September, was vulnerable to the late brush of Slick Artist A, who blew by to win in 1:53. Lydeo held second, 1-1/2 lengths back, with Leave Her Wild third.
Gerald Lee Jr., owns and trains Slick Artist A, a nine-year-old daughter of Art Major-Slick Bird who lifted her career bankroll to $344,353.
Elsewhere on Wednesday’s card, Dave Kuzara, who trains a small stable but drives infrequently, enjoyed his first driving win in more than four years when he piloted Creatine Storm to victory after a confident quarter-pole move. The three-year-old gelding took a $9,000 conditioned trot in 2:02.4.
Hunter Myers collected three wins on the 13-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (Feb. 9), first post 12:45 p.m. (EST).
