Not even a first-over trip could stop Lets Leavem from posting a driving away victory in Sunday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs.
With Anthony MacDonald at the controls, Lets Leavem tucked into the three-hole in the early going while Were Rolling lived up to his name and rolled through first half fractions of :29.1 and 1:00.1. MacDonald called on his charge to march first up heading to the half, and they eventually worked their way to the lead while racing parked at the three-quarter pole in 1:29.1. The gelding powered away to a 3-1/4 length tally over race favourite Alacrity in 2:00.1. Thundering Ovation tagged along to finish third.
Sent off at odds of 6-1, the six-year-old son of Angus Hall-Who Tookem notched his second win of the season for owner Linda Loyens of Denfield, ON. The seven-time winner, who went 1-for-20 last year, boosted his career cash stash to $124,000 with the score.
