Things didn’t go so well for the stakes-winning Panagler at the end of the 2011 season and it was more of the same as she made her 2012 debut, but based on her last two performances she might be turning the corner
for trainer Bob McIntosh.
Panagler, a five-year-old daughter of No Pan Intended-Panipulator, was second in a $6,500 conditioned tilt at Windsor Raceway on January 24 and she returned to the border oval on Tuesday evening and captured a $9,500 conditioned assignment in 1:55.2 for driver Ron Henderson.
Henderson, who raced the mare first-over in last week’s effort, employed front-end tactics in Tuesday’s task. She parked past the quarter pole in :27.3 before finding her way to the front as the field passed the grandstand and neared the half. She hit the mid-way point in :56 and was still in charge at the three-quarter station in 1:25.2 before kicking home in a :30-second clip to win for the tenth time in her career.
Owned and bred by the Peter Pan Stables of Pepper Pike, OH, the grey mare has now stashed away earnings in excess of $532,000.
Trainer Bob McIntosh is on stand-by for surgery tomorrow to repair a broken pelvis he suffered in a training accident at his farm on Wednesday, February 1.
