A pair of co-featured Preferreds were on tap on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District with So Frisky headlining as the feature winner in 1:56.1 at the London, Ont. oval.
Colin Kelly and the Anita Ouellette student took post three in the field of six going for $11,000 in the distaff Preferred Handicap Pace. The pair got away third at the quarter in :27.2 before So Frisky moved first over through the half in :57.1 and three-quarters in 1:25.4. So Frisky achieved the lead in the final turn and the mare kept going to win by one length in 1:56.1. Shoot The Whiskey (Travis Cullen) finished second and Arizona (Tyler Borth) completed the triactor.
So Frisky (Dali-Beauty Delight) is owned by Luc Ouellette, who bred the eight-year-old mare along with Paul Bernard. She earned her second win in four starts this year and her 40th career victory from 138 starts. So Frisky moved her bankroll to a sum of $317,383. As the 6-1 third choice, the mare returned $13 to her backers.
Andy Over won the $11,000 Preferred Handicap Trot with Ed Hensley holding the lines for Ashleigh Hensley in the Tuesday opener.
Andy Over got away fifth off the car and maintained position through the opening panel in :28.2 and half in :58.4. En route to the three-quarters, Ed Hensley pulled his right line to send the gelding second over behind the cover of Bucktober (Tyler Borth). Down the lane, Andy Over kicked into a second gear to sweep to the top and win by a half length in 1:59.1. Dahlquist Hanover (Anthony Haughan) finished second with Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald) rounding out the top three.
Ed & Ashleigh Hensley own the seven-year-old Andovers Son-Victory Love gelding, who earned his second straight win in four starts this season and his 30th career tally. Andy Over moved his bankroll to $233,792 from 158 career starts. He returned $4.90 to win as the bettors' choice.
