After starting from post 2, Larry Ferrari and Impressive Chief were looped on the first turn by Darrell Rideout and Fultons Fury. They then retook command after a stiff :28.1 first panel and went on to a 1:58.1 victory in the $9,200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot on Sunday evening (Feb. 6) at Northfield Park.

Once clear on the lead, Ferrari kept the pedal to the metal and Impressive Chief led the field by the half in :57.3. When they headed up the backside, Ferrari's charge began to open on the field, and they had three lengths on Fultons Fury when he passed three-quarters in 1:27.2. Still solidly in command when they rounded the final turn, the only thing in doubt was the final margin of victory, which turned out to be 4-1/4 lengths when the timer flashed 1:58.1.

However, when Fultons Fury headed for paydirt, Eddie Miller hustled Pepin Coolie up for second money and finished a head better than Curleys Son and Marion Chupp, who took home the show dough. Fultons Fury faded and finished fifth.

Impressive Chief, an 11-year-old Hard Rock N Roll gelding, is owned and trained by John Payne. He paid $13.00 for the win.

MGM Northfield Park has announced the addition of a $20,000 Pick-5 total pool guarantee for Tuesday (Feb. 8).

Beginning in Race 6, the $20,000 Pick-5 guaranteed total pool includes a carryover of $4,926.

This wager is being offered as part of the Strategic Wagering Program through the United States Trotting Association.

Northfield’s Pick 5, Pick 4s, Pick 3s, 50-cent (non-jackpot) Pick 6 and 20-cent Super High Five offer a reduced takeout rate of just 14 percent.

Tuesday’s post time is 6 p.m. (EST)
