Trotting mare Maven continues her European tour with a start this Sunday in the €400,000 Grand Prix de France, facing off against a number of familiar foes.

With Yannick Gingras back on North American soil, trainer Jimmy Takter has chosen someone he knows very well to drive the six-year-old Glidemaster mare -- his brother Johnny Takter. While Johnny primarily plies his trade in Sweden, he showed his talents stateside with stakes wins in the 2011 Peter Haughton Memorial driving Weingartner and the 1999 World Trotting Derby with Enjoy Lavec.

Maven is owned by Toronto's John Fielding, Quebec native Herb Liverman (now residing in Miami Beach, Fl.) and Ohio's Joyce McClelland. This is her fourth start since shipping over to Europe.

Sunday's Grand Prix de France field lines up behind a starting gate, with nine horses on the gate and four trailers. Among the competition for Maven is Prix d'Amerique winner Up And Quick, directly to her outside in Post 2 and Timoko, who finished third in the Prix d'Amerique, also drawing well and landing in Post 3.
