Fresh off a win in the Willowdale Pacing Series at Woodbine Racetrack, Westwardho Hanover headed back south of the border with his sights set on claiming another series title at Meadowlands Racetrack.

The Ron Burke trainee kicked off the Aquarius Series for four-year-old pacers with a 1:50.4 triumph in the $35,000 opening round.

With Yannick Gingras in the sulky, Westwardho Hanover worked his way to command from a Post 11 start through a :28-second opening panel. He cleared down the backstretch and hit the half in :56, followed by three-quarters in 1:24. The heavy favourite extended his lead to nearly four length by the head of the lane and sprinted to the wire in :26.4 to secure the victory. Camaes Fellow and Brian Sears finished one and three-quarter lengths behind off a pocket trip while 116-1 longshot Art Z and Brandon Simpson came on for third.

Westwardho Hanover paid $3.80 to win. The son of Dragon Again, winner of last year's Progress Pace, notched his 12th career win and pushed his lifetime earnings to $664,820. He is owned by the Westward Ho Stable of Frederickstown, Pennsylvania.

The win was one of three on the 13-race card for the hot Gingras-Burke combination. The duo also scored with Tuneariffic ($5.40) and Adams Hanover ($3). Gingras also picked up another victory for conditioner Julius Czermann with Laguna Beach ($4.60).
