‘The Deputy’ Perfect At Age Nine

Veteran pacer The Deputy Is Home scored his fifth consecutive front end victory for trainer Kevin McMaster on Sunday evening at Flamboro Downs to keep his 2012 record in mint condition

Canada’s leading driver, Billy Davis Jr., sent the nine-year-old Shotgun Scott gelding to command from Post 3 in the field of $8,000 to $10,000 claimers and never looked back en route to the two length victory in 1:57. Lyons Elite (Scott Coulter) came on for second while pocket-sitter Hes A Lion (Anthony MacDonald) finished nearly five lengths back in third.

The Deputy Is Home paid $3.10 to win as the 1-2 favourite. He is now a perfect five-for-five this year with $14,400 banked for the McMaster Stables Inc. of Guelph, Ont. Lifetime, the 26-time winner has earned over $288,000.
