Horseman Gerry Hudon kicked off the eight-day live standardbred meet at Northlands Park in style on Friday capturing one-third of the opening program's races

Hudon, last year's leading trainer and driver at Northlands Park, fashioned a training-driving triple with Attitudenous [$3.40] and Nazko Shelley [$4.90] going back-to-back in the fourth and fifth races, and Mr Brightside [$8.90] drawing away to win by 10-3/4 lengths in the eighth race.

Jamie Gray matched Hudon for driving wins during the nine-race card.

Two Alberta handicappers captured the $25,000 Pick 6 on Friday at Northlands Park.

According to northlandspark.ca, Archie Melnyk had a $24 winning ticket, while Dan Sifert invested $216.

A total of $6,393.96 was wagered in the Pick 6 on Friday. The five-out-of-six consolation paid $45.10 on a $1 ticket. A $1 six-out-of-six winning ticket paid $1,683.05 based on Friday's wagering total in the Pick 6.

An insurance policy kicked in for the two winning tickets - as the pool was below $25,000. Melnyk and Sifert each receive an additional $9,303.02 from the insurance policy.

The Northlands meet will run through the end of February with live harness racing taking place on Fridays and Saturdays.
