It has been reported that a trainer has passed away after a serious accident at his family’s stable, and it is suspected that a malfunctioning ramp on a horse trailer is to blame.
An article by The New Zealand Herald states that 43-year-old conditioner Steve Anderton passed away Tuesday (February 3) at Dunedin Hospital in Otago, New Zealand.
During the morning hours of Monday, February 2, Anderton, who had suffered serious injuries, was found trapped under a horse-trailer ramp at his family’s stable, located in Mosgiel.
According to the report, investigators are suspecting that the hydraulics on the ramp malfunctioned while Anderton was getting ready to load horses to ship to Wingatui Racecourse.
