Jeremes Sweetheart, after four runner-up performances in the $20,000 Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs, finally made the winner’s circle in Monday’s feature race.

With Ron Pierce driving the Jeremes Jet-Fox Valley Evanna mare sitting directly behind Cooking The Books, who had lead from early in the race, the five-year-old rolled along the passing lane to notch a 1:52.2 triumph by a half-length. Race favourite Monochromatic starting from outside Post 8 raced on the outside, with Corey Callahan, for most of the mile and had to settle for third.

Eric Ell trains Jeremes Sweetheart for owners Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta.

Ron Pierce, Trace Tetrick and trainer Jim King registered three wins each. Chris Page had a double on Monday’s program.
