Dutrow Files Lawsuit

It has been reported that controversial thoroughbred trainer Rick Dutrow has filed a lawsuit in hopes of overturning the 10-year ban he was handed last year in New York related to a long history of medication violations.

An article by the Los Angeles Times has cited an official with the New York State Gaming Commission, who handed down the suspension, as reserving comment due to the fact that the commission has been handed legal papers regarding the situation.

An excerpt from the civil complaint states, "any and every horse Dutrow becomes involved with during the 10 years his license is revoked … disqualifies the horse from any racetrack throughout New York state. The order, in effect, also acts as a prohibition against Dutrow associating with any individuals who use the racetracks of New York state, including his family, who are connected to the racetracks.”
