Driver Sylvain Filion tripped out with Uhtred to score a repeat victory in the $36,000 Preferred Pace on Saturday (Feb. 26) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Stablemate Points North pushed for the front to a :28.2 first quarter before yielding control to The Greek Freak. Filion sat in third with Uhtred to a :57.1 half and stayed put until the field crossed three-quarters in 1:25.3, where Points North vacated pocket and gave Uhtred cover to follow. Off the turn, the five-year-old Art Major gelding sprung by the pacesetter and his stablemate while chased home by Wheels On Fire to cross the line a length better in a 1:52.3 mile. Beyond Better closed from last for third and Points North took fourth.
Owned by Earl Hill Jr. and Stephen Klunowski, Uhtred won his fourth race from eight starts this season and his 11th from 26 overall, pushing his earnings to $269,642. Carmen Auciello trains the $5.50 winner.
