Leaving from post 8, Wheels On Fire found the front and held firm to the finish to score a wire-to-wire win in the $30,000 featured pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Feb. 27).

Driver Bob McClure secured the top with the six-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding moving to a :27.2 opening quarter while East End settled into the pocket. Points North pulled first over passing a :56.4 half and progressed towards the pacesetter heading to three-quarters in 1:25. However Points North began to stall off the turn as Wheels On Fire scooted to a two-length lead. So Much More, sent the odds-on favourite, ripped off cover from second over to challenge Wheels On Fire late, but the Richard Moreau trainee held on by one-and-a-half lengths to win in 1:52.3. East End finished third while Points North faded to fourth.

Owned by Brad Grant, Wheels On Fire won his 24th race from 70 starts, earning $404,723. He paid $17.00 to win.
