Igottafeelinfran got back on the winning track Friday night at Miami Valley Raceway winning the $16,500 Fillies and Mares Open Pace.
Sent off as the 6-5 favourite despite two straight disappointing finishes from outside post positions, the five-year-old daughter of Ohio sire Feelin Friskie went directly to the front for driver Dan Noble and went unpressured until the stretch. With no foe willing to challenge the pacesetter early, Noble coasted through fractions of :28, :58 and 1:27.1 before finishing in :28.1 for the 1:55.2 victory. Shine N Shimmer (Chris Page), last week’s winner, left alertly from the outside post position and fell into the pocket where she stayed until a late seam in the stretch allowed her to finish a strong second with a good closing kick. Betterluvnexttime (Josh Sutton) also fell victim to the pedestrian fractions, but came on late to garner the show dough. The three classy mares that comprised the winning trifecta ticket have combined earnings of over $1 million.
Igottafeelinfran has now won 19 times and banked over $390,000 in just 54 career starts. She is co-owned by trainer Jim Dailey’s wife Kimberly with Jerry Zosel and Kathy Ratcliff.
