Things didn’t start out very well at the beginning of the 2012 season for pacer Amazon Art, but a recent change of scenery has clearly helped to breathe some new life back into the classy campaigner

.

The six-year-old son of Artsplace-Can Du River took on – and eventually beat – five foes in Monday’s $12,000 Preferred #2 for pacers at Kawartha Downs, and in doing so he notched his third victory from his last four outings.

With Jonathan Drury at the helm, Amazon Art shot to immediate command from Post 6 and proceeded to knife out splits of :28.4, :58.4 and 1:27.2 over a track rated “good” with a one-second allowance before tacking on a :28.3 closing panel to win by five lengths over Lyons Johnny in 1:56. Third prized went to Willies Place.

Randy Van Meer trains the 20-time winner for owner Harry Locke of Oshawa, ON, and together they’ve watched the gelding bank close to $250,000 in career earnings.
