Katch Kanna shot through the passing lane to catch the duelling favourites at the wire in the $13,000 Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap Trot, which closed out Friday night's (Feb. 25) harness racing card at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Driven by Travis Henry, Katch Kanna followed the 6-5 mare Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald) from the pocket spot through fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:27.4 while 3-1 second choice Esquire (Tyler Borth) advanced alongside the leader as they turned for home. While the favourites duked it out down the lane, Katch Kanna took the inside route to prevail in 1:57.4 by a long neck. Esquire edged out Power And Grace for the runner-up honours.

Sent postward at odds of 5-1 as the fourth pick on the toteboard, Katch Kanna returned $12.50 to his backers.

The nine-year-old Lucky Chucky gelding, who is now four-for-six this year for trainer Jacques Dupont, has won 33 races and $262,309 lifetime. He is owned by Les Ecuries Dorleans Inc. and Sylvain Descheneaux.
