Darkest Secret parlayed a second over trip into a Monday evening triumph in the $11,500 Preferred 2 for horse and gelding pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District for the duo of driver Brett MacDonald and trainer Richard Moreau.
MacDonald got away fourth with Darkest Secret while Lincolnjames threw down early fractions of :28.2, :58.2 and 1:27.3. Tuition Money was parked the route, and Darkest Secret managed to latch onto that one’s cover going to the half. MacDonald swung his charge three-wide going to the three-quarter pole and then used a :29.4 closing panel to win in by 1-1/2 lengths over Reel in 1:57.3. A Boy Named Suuzz was third.
La Ferme Drummond Inc of Saint-Hugues, QC owns the 12-time winner who improved this year’s record to 2-3-1 from seven trips to the track in 2019. He’s banked just shy of $70,000 to date.
Tomitta Bayama was a wire-to-wire winner in Monday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers.
Marc St. Louis hustled the veteran through fractions of :28.1, :59.1 and 1:27.4 before scooting home in :30 to win by seven lengths over Shoe Shine in 1:57.4. May To For took home the show dough.
Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, the 10-year-old son of Camluck Korinna Bayama extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row for trainer Thomas Hamm and owner Dave Hudson of Dallas, TX. The 33-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $180,000 with the win.
