It has been reported that the Manitoba Jockey Club has decided to not pursue a court challenge in regard to the future of Assiniboia Downs’ wagering licence.
The update comes courtesy of a article by CTV News Winnipeg, which explains that the MJC has now opted to bring the matter to the Manitoba Horse Racing Commission instead.
The MJC decision came after a hearing this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 25).
In 2013, the MHRC threatened to pull Assiniboia's betting licence. The MJC said that the move was politically motivated and had to do with an expansion deal the jockey club was looking to reach with a First Nations group.
