Mistress Valentine overpowered the field with a strong first-over move that carried her to victory in Tuesday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Mike Wilder hustled Mistress Valentine to a seat fourth from post 8. When no cover materialized down the backside, the six-year-old daughter of Master Glide-Patsy’s Valentine did the heavy lifting herself, gobbling up the leaders and scoring in 1:55.3. Anaffairtoremember was second, with Kandian Klub third.
Tyler Stillings conditions Mistress Valentine, who now boasts lifetime earnings of $256,354, and owns with Rags To Riches Of PA. It was one of five wins on the 14-race card for Wilder.
In the companion feature, the $18,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot, Classicality moved first over from fourth to capture his initial 2015 win in 1:54.3, 1-1/4 lengths better than Crazolo. Tall Cotton shot the Lightning Lane for show.
Lisa Dunn-Adams trains Classicality, a five-year-old Classic Photo-Penn Worthy Lane gelding who extended his career bankroll to $196,262, for Dunn Stable.
Aaron Merriman enjoyed a four-bagger on the day.
