Slight Touch Back In Rideau Spotlight

Winner of Rideau Carleton Raceway's $6,500 top class in his last start two weeks ago, Slight Touch was back in action on Sunday night and back in the spotlight.

Gord Brown worked out a winning second-over trip from the outside post seven aboard Slight Touch in the featured Winners Over $15,000 Lifetime/Not Listed Preferred Pace for trainer Gerard Demers.

Tail R Swift took the lead early on and posted a :27.4 opening quarter while a parked out Anderlecht worked his way up alongside the front-stepper. As those two raced side-by-side to the mid-way point in :56.3, Brown tipped Slight Touch into the outer flow and moved up behind favourite Anderlecht second-over. Brown then sent the 5-2 second choice three-wide at the 1:26.1 three-quarters mark and swept by the leaders, drawing away down the stretch to win in 1:56 flat over the "good" track. House Of Terror chased the winner home to finish second by half a length. Third prize went to Modern Xhibit six and three-quarter lengths behind.

Slight Touch paid $7.30 to win. The five-year-old Badlands Hanover gelding, who is now four-for-six in 2015, is owned by Catheline Pelletier of Mirabel, Que. and Les Ecuries Gld Inc. of Papineauville, Ont.
