Trottin Troy Rebounds In Preferred

Trottin Troy was a bad boy in the Preferred ranks on February 9 at Western Fair Raceway, but he redeemed himself in today’s follow-up try for the tandem of trainer Steve Bossence and driver Dave Wall.

The five-year-old son of Chip Chip Hooray rallied to a 2:01.4 triumph in Tuesday’s co-featured $18,400 Preferred Trot after making a costly break in his previous outing.

Trottin Troy, who is owned by the Ohio partnership of Parent Racing Stable LLC and Crystal Ball Stables, drew off to win today’s top trotting tilt over Suited, who was sent off as the 2-1 favourite, and Twin B Excalibur.

The gelding has put together a 3-1-0 record in his first five starts of the season. The lion’s share of the purse bumped his lifetime bankroll to $214,153.

Oakley Seelster took home weekly bragging rights in the co-featured $18,400 Preferred Pace for the duo of trainer John Kennedy and teamster Bruce Richardson.

The five-year-old son of Western Maverick threw down panels of :28.1, :58.2 and 1:27.2 before stepping home in :29.2 to post the 1:56.4 decision. Must Be Matt was second best and Button Up rounded out the top three.

Oakley Seelster, who has finished no worse than second in each of his last seven starts in the Preferred ranks, has constructed a 1-4-0 record in his first five starts of the season. Clayton Walmsely of Walkerton and John Kennedy of Woodstock share ownership on the career winner of $159,975.

Tipper Too also used front-end tactics for owner/trainer/driver Corey Giles en route to taking home top prize in the $12,800 Preferred-2 Pace.

The six-year-old son of Albert Albert rolled the field through splits of :29, :59 and 1:27 before scooting home in :30 seconds for the 1:57.4 decision. Bigmizndrstnding was up for the place award and Lightning Luck was third.

With the win, Tipper Too has found his way to victory lane in three of his first five starts this campaign. The $6,400 payday boosted his lifetime cash stash to $177,353.
