Happy Paysak (p, 2, 1:55.4f, p, 1:54.1f) died of natural causes at the farm of John Nauss of Shinimcas, near Amherst, NS on Sunday, February 22
. The Cam Fella--Facet Hanover stallion was 23 years old.
A winner of $255,596, Happy Paysak sired 10 in 1:55, beginning his stud career in Ontario before moving to the Maritimes where he stood at Arnold Fitzgerald’s Blu Haven Farm in Abercrombie, NS.
Among his early progeny were Jesse B Baker, p, 1:51.3s, ($518,191), No Pleasure, p, 1:52.2 ($351,164), and Best Paysak, p, 1:52.1s ($218,012).
His Maritime-bred winners included Chief Happysak, winner of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Cup in 1:55, Acton On Advice, p, 1:53.2s ($173,000), River Mel, p, 4, 1:55.3h ($132,087), and the stakes winner Manawar, p, 1:53.2, who raced against Maritime champion Firms Phantom in his two and three-year-old season.
Happy Paysak had been standing for the last two seasons at the Nauss farm.
