Running Aces Harness Park officials are readying for the track's eighth season of live racing from June 6 through September 12, 2015.
Live action will be presented on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday nights in June with Wednesdays added to the mix beginning July 1. Post time will be 6:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturdays and Sundays with the first race slated for 7:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The current purse pool projection, including a special supplement fund reserved for Minnesota-sired races, is approximately $2,250,000. Individual purses for overnight races will likely range from $2,500 to $10,000 with the average purse for the entire meet expected to be almost $5,000.
Director of Racing Gregg Keidel, who has been instrumental in overseeing the steady growth and improvement in the racing program since its inception, predicts the positive momentum will continue in 2015 and beyond.
"Since my first visit to Running Aces, when it was still under construction and in the planning stages, I thought this track had a lot of potential for success," said Keidel. "We've shown significant growth in purse levels and field sizes since the early days and that has drawn more and more attention to our product, which has resulted in overall handle improvements. The quality of the horses competing here has steadily improved, too, and when combined with one of the finest racing surfaces in America we've seen numerous track speed records lowered each and every year."
Stall applications for the 2015 season will be available on the track's website, www.runningacesharness.com, by March 17 and must be returned by April 17. The stall allocation will be posted on the web on May 1. The barn area will open on May 27 with a qualifying races session scheduled for Saturday, May 30 beginning at noon.
