It’s a Yannick Gingras World and we’re all just living in it. That has been the theme at The Meadowlands for the past two weeks.
That theme continued Friday evening as the leading driver at the track racked up another six victories on the night. Three of the six wins came teamed up with leading trainer, Ron Burke. That makes it eight wins for Gingras this week and 15 wins over the last five nights. The recent surge has allowed Gingras to extend his lead in the Meadowlands Drivers Standings to 30 wins over Dave Miller who is second in the standings.
One race Gingras did not win was the Friday feature $16,000 B-1 trot, which instead went to Mike Simons and Twin B Spike Man, who lowered his career best by a fifth of a second to 1:53.2 in the process. Drafting along behind the favored Coraggioso through demanding fractions of :28 and :55.3, Simons tipped his charge as they straightened up and Twin B Spike Man powered to a two-length victory. The Triple Lindy rallied from well back for the place and Coraggioso held third.
Twin B Spike Man is trained by Gail Wrubel and owned by his driver, Mike Simons, in partnership with Donald W Eccleston and Albert P Abdala III.
Addys Way moved up to the $14,000 B-2 class for pacing mares off of a win last week and proved to be up to the task. It came as a huge surprise to the horse playing public, however, as the mare returned over $60.
She ground up first over, the same course as last week's win for driver Jimmy Marohn Jr. The win put Addys Way over the $200,000 mark in lifetime earnings for owners Perkins Racing Stable LLC of Hilliard, Ohio. Danny Gill is the trainer of Addys Way.
