Marvin Hagler earned his second straight victory on back-to-back Wednesdays at The Raceway at the Western Fair District in the featured $9,000 conditioned trot. Garrett Rooney held the lines of the Mark MacQuarrie student as they went gate-to-wire in the Wednesday (Feb. 21) top trot.
Rooney and Marvin Hagler left from post two and secured the early lead. Marvin Hagler handed out three panels in :28.1, :58.1 and 1:27.1 before opening up to a 3-1/4-length victory in 1:57.3. Arrakis (Travis Henry) pocketed second and Run Like Hill (Samuel Fillion) rounded out the top three.
Owned by Mary Pedden and Mark MacQuarrie, Marvin Hagler is a five-year-old gelded son of Crazed-Showmeyourmuscles. A winner of $141,845 in earnings, Marvin Hagler has had three wins in seven starts this year and 19 wins in 64 career starts. He returned $3.80 to win as the bettors' choice.
