The Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission (MPHRC) announced Derek Folland as its new Director of Racing on Friday, Feb. 20.
"On behalf of the Commission, I am pleased to welcome Derek Folland as the new Director of Racing with the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission," stated Glen Rankin, Chair of the Commission. "Mr. Folland brings vast experience from a lifetime involvement in the industry. As a former trainer and owner, and as a respected senior judge with the Commission, Derek has the attributes that the position demands."
Folland started his new role on Feb. 18, 2026.
"I am looking forward to continuing my work with the industry, albeit in a different capacity," stated Folland. "Communication and engagement with industry participants will be hallmarks of my leadership."
The Commission wishes to thank outgoing Director of Racing Kyle Burton for his work and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
