Winless in his first five starts of the season, Warrior One was regarded as a 3-2 favourite by the betting public in Monday’s main event for trotters at Woodbine Mohawk Park and he didn’t disappoint his pari-mutuel backers.

In rein to Sylvain Filion, Warrior One got away third while stablemate Patriarch Hanover shot to the top and supplied the field with an opening quarter clocked in :27.  Ritson, who was positioned in the pocket, brushed to the top in the backstretch before coming under attack from a hard-driving Warrior One.

In a matter of strides it was Warrior One who scooted to the top and then supplied the field with middle panels of :56 and 1:25.2.  He then kicked out a final quarter of :28.2 to win comfortably over Ritson.  Third prize went to Meadowbranch Noble.

Richard Moreau trains the seven-year-old son of Father Patrick-Yoga for his cousin, Yannick Gingras.  The gelding is a 26-time winner with career earnings of $575,079 on his resume.
