Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino announced on Friday (Feb. 20) that racing industry veteran Michael Chamberlain will join the Hoosier team as track announcer for the start of the 2021 season, subject to Indiana Horse Racing Commission approval. The season kicks off on March 26.
Chamberlain has worked in the horse racing industry as a track announcer for 24 years, and most notably at Sam Houston Race Park, Turf Paradise, Evangeline Downs, and harness track Vernon Downs.
In addition to working as a track announcer, Chamberlain has also served in various capacities including morning-line oddsmaker, tip sheet writer, on-camera personality, radio host and voice-over talent.
“Michael’s a well-recognized industry professional who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Indiana. From track announcing to handicapping and innovative marketing, Michael is going to be a great addition to our team,” said Harrah’s Hoosier Park VP & GM of Racing Rick Moore.
Beginning on March 26, harness racing at Harrah’s Hoosier Park will be held on a Wednesday through Saturday schedule through mid-May before adding Sunday evenings. The full schedule continues through September before dropping back down to a Wednesday through Saturday schedule through December 4. For the first time ever, Harrah’s Hoosier Park will also offer live racing on both the night before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving night.
