After playing the role of the bridesmaid to Ready Cash earlier this year in the first two jewels of the French Triple Crown – the Prix d’Amerique and Prix de France - Maharajah dodged that arch rival and came up with a sparkling score in Sunday’s Prix de Paris
at Vincennes.
The $350,000 (euros) affair, which was contested at the distance of 2-5/8 miles, saw the Swedish superstar set most of the pace for driver Ôrjan Kihlström before scooting home to win by a one-length margin over Oyonnax in a mile rate of 2:01.4. Third prize was earned by Quilon Du Chatelet.
Maharajah, who was sent off as the heavy favourite, has earned $800,000 in his four races at Vincennes during the months of January and February.
