The Sunday, Feb. 2 evening card at Flamboro Downs was headlined by a pair of $10,000 co-features, with Counter Offer and Job Hunter emerging victorious in their respective events.

Counter Offer and Michael Whelan delivered a well-timed rally in the fifth race co-feature, which had a compact field of five after a scratch. Gigitygigitygigty (J Harris) seized early control after a duel with Redland Wrangler (Paul MacKenzie). The 8-5 second choice set fractions of :28, :58 and 1:27.1, opening up by three lengths past the half. Heavy 2-5 favourite Counter Offer sat patiently in third before launching a powerful first-over move down the backside. With steady momentum, he surged past competition to win by half a length in 1:56.1. No Fool Mackinley (Scott Coulter) closed well for second, while Redland Wrangler held on for third.

Counter Offer, owned and trained by Walter Whelan, notched his first victory of the season, paying $2.80 to win. The seven-year-old gelded son of Shadow Play-All Accounted For has been a model of consistency in 2025, hitting the board in all three of his starts and adding $8,496 to his lifetime earnings, which now total $140,154.

The night's second feature, Race 10, belonged to Job Hunter and Jeff Hunt, who also trains and owns the mare. U No Peach (Paul MacKenzie) surged to the lead off the gate, setting the opening quarter in :29, but Job Hunter was on the move, taking command just before the half in :59 and reaching three-quarters in 1:28. In the stretch, U No Peach made a determined bid up the passing lane, but Job Hunter dug in and held strong to secure the victory in 1:57.2 by three-quarters of a length. U No Peach finished second, while Le Be Fin (Todd Ratchford) rounded out the top three.

A four-year-old Huntsville mare out of Do Your Job, Job Hunter notched her first win of the season in style, boasting her 2025 earnings to $9,440 and career earnings to $33,140. Bettors who backed the upset winner were rewarded with a $17.20 payout at the windows.
