Docsphillycheese went gate-to-wire on Monday (Feb. 19) evening to win the $11,000 Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Alfie Carroll sent the Brittany Kennedy trainee straight to the top and the pair never looked back as they set panels in :27.4, :58 and 1:27. Turning for home, Hollys Treasure (Dan Clements) sought a challenge against the pacesetter, but Docsphillycheese battled back to win by a neck in 1:56.4. Harpers Hat Trick (Travis Henry) completed the triactor.
Breeders Brittany Kennedy and Moneyclip Racing co-own the five-year-old son of Betterthancheddar out of the Mach Three mare Flight Of An Angel. Docsphillycheese has 18 victories from 63 lifetime starts to go along with $108,111 in the bank. He returned $7.10 to win as the 3-1 third choice.
