It was announced last fall that Gateway Casinos & Entertainment would be investing roughly $18 million into renovations at its casino offerings at Hanover Raceway. Work is well underway and the date for a soft opening has been released.

According to an article by the Hanover Post, the progress was witnessed first-hand by members of Hanover council, who were able to take a hardhat tour of the premises earlier this month.

The Hanover Post item explains that the renovation was initially expected to be completed in late 2018, but that delays have pushed that date to March 17. Gaming officials are planning to halt the current casino operation on March 17 as part of a lead-up to the March 19 soft opening. An official grand opening is expected to occur at some point in April.

The Hanover gaming expansion will be housed in the current Hanover Raceway structure, which had previously been earmarked for transformation into a banquet facility. The expanded gaming area will include Gateway’s two signature restaurant brands MATCH Eatery and Public House and The Buffet.

Gateway president and CEO Tony Santo took part in the recent hardhat tour and commented that his company’s offerings at Hanover will be more than just “slots in a box” and will be “more than just slot machines.”
