The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission’s new executive director, Marc Guilfoil, has confirmed that the commission’s chief veterinarian, Dr. Will Farmer, has been dismissed from his duties.

As an article by the Lexington Herald-Leader explains, Dr. Farmer had been the KHRC’s chief vet since 2012.

The article states that Dr. Bruce Howard, who has been with the KHRC for some time, will take over for Dr. Farmer.

The Lexington Herald-Leader piece has quoted Guilfoil as saying that the role is “a very important position” and that he has confidence in Dr. Howard’s abilities.
