A set of Open events – one for trotters and one for pacers – highlighted Monday evening’s card of racing at Northfield Park, with Pembroke Snapshot and Lyons Josephjnr taking home top prize in their respective assignments.

Pembroke Snapshot was the winner of $9,500 Open Trot for driver Aaron Merriman and Johnny Yoder, who owns and trains the nine year-old veteran.

The son of SJs Photo-Super Earl chopped out fractions of :28.4, :58.4 and 1:27.4 en route to posting the 1:57.3 decision. He was 2-3/4 lengths better than runner-up Kahoku, with Arianna Hall rounding out the top three finishers.

Monday’s triumph increased Pembroke Snapshot’s lifetime win tally to 25 and his career earnings to $255,650. He returned $3.60.

Lyons Josephjnr captured the $10,000 Open Pace for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. Northfield Park’s leading driver, Josh Sutton, picked up the win aboard the Ron Burke-trained five year-old.
The son of Million Dollar Cam-Lyons Sure Sign started from post seven and let his competition carve fractions of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:26.4 while facing strong wind and heavy snow. Lyons Josephjnr bested his competition by a length, stopping the clock at 1:56. Nathan Feelsgood was next best, with PL Dragon taking home the show dough.

Lyons Josephjnr now has 12 career victories and Monday’s win pushed his bankroll to $187,651. He paid $19.60 to win.
