For the fifth time this meet, Monochromatic scored a victory in the $23,000 Mares Open Handicap thanks to her Monday score at Dover Downs.
Monochromatic turned in a gutty effort holding off fast-finishing Alexachase in 1:52 in the feature race. Corey Callahan picked up his third of four wins driving the Dream Away-Miss Ty eight-year-old owned by North State Street Stable of Dover, DE.
Alexachase closed from last heading to the three quarters and was able to escape from behind a wall of mares in mid-stretch to within a neck of the winner at the wire. Southwind Jazmin was third.
Monochromatic, trained by Dylan Davis, has won three of her six starts this year earning $41,600 and $593,670 lifetime.
The sport’s leading driver, Corey Callahan, had a four-bagger. Tim Tetrick, Ben Stafford, Jr., and trainers Jim King, Mike Hall and Ben Stafford had two winners each.
