Following his sixth consecutive title as Canada's Trainer of the Year at the O'Brien Awards, trainer Richard Moreau resumed his reign with a hat-trick evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Feb. 16.
Moreau's three wins on the card included Isitfridayyet, who rolled as the 2-1 favourite to a length victory in the $27,000 feature pace.
The six-year-old No Pan Intended gelding got away fifth as his stablemate Maroma Beach brushed to the lead through a :26.2 opening quarter. Driver Bob McClure soon moved Isitfridayyet first over heading into a :54.3 half and swiftly took the top rounding the final turn and in progress to a 1:23.4 third quarter. Isitfridayyet held control through the stretch as Physicallyinclined kicked off cover to take second with Brodys Scrapper scooping third.
Owned by Leonard Rosene, Isitfridayyet won his 21st race from 102 starts, for earnings of $214,084. He paid $6.10 to win.
Moreau won his other two races earlier in the card. He sent Revenue Agent ($4.20) to a near-wire-to-wire 1:57.2 victory in a $12,000 claiming pace and, two races later, won with Go West Go Fast ($4.30) in a $22,000 conditioned pace off a first-over trip in 1:53.3.
