The Ontario Racing Commission recently handed out a $5,000 fine to Rideau Carleton Raceway for failing to have the racing strip suitably prepared for racing.
The penalty was doled out as a result of the five eighths mile oval being forced to cancel the majority of its February 5 card of racing due to unsafe track conditions.
Three of the 15 races scheduled for that night were completed before the remainder of the card was scrapped. The first three races were contested over a track rated “heavy” with a seven-second allowance for time.
