Cusdmagicdragon doubled up in the $10,800 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs when she caught Paperback Thriller in the final strides on Friday night (Feb. 14) for the red-hot Kelly Hoerdt.

Paperback Thriller kicked off the 2020 campaign with a pair of successful Open outings in early January and was looking to get back to her winning ways as she took off from post four in Friday's feature and carved out panels of :28.1, :57.2 and 1:25.2. However, Cusdmagicdragon enjoyed a perfect pocket trip and downed her in the stretch to prevail by a neck in 1:53.4.

The five-year-old daughter of Custard The Dragon notched her 25th career win and bumped her bankroll to $311,401. Hoerdt trains, drives and shares ownership with Blair and Erna Corbeil.

Cusdmagicdragon, who was a winner last time out in the Mares Open on January 31, paid $4.20 to win as the favourite in Friday's five-mare affair. Paperback Thriller (Brandon Campbell) settled for second in the photo finish while Sell A Bit N (Tony Kerwood) followed back in third.

Hoerdt earned training and/or driving wins in seven of Friday's 11 races.
