American History is a familiar name in the program pages at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but there's a new trainer-driver combination behind the Breeders Crown winner.
With James MacDonald at the controls for trainer David Menary, American History made his 2025 debut in style during the Friday, Feb. 14 session of qualifiers at Woodbine Mohawk Park. MacDonald pointed the son of American Ideal to the position of command and made every call a winning one. After fractions of :31.2, 1:00.1 and 1:29, American History closed his mile with a :28.4 final panel to trip the timer in 1:57.4. Hunter Hill followed willingly for driver Scott Young and finished second with his nose on MacDonald's helmet.
A winner of 48 races and more than $1.8 million in his well-travelled and successful career, American History (American Ideal - Perfect Touch) is owned by Patrick Hill of Fredericton, N.B.
