Sizzlen Hot Herbie won by open lengths in the $13,000 Preferred Handicap Trot on Tuesday (Feb. 14) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
As the gate pulled away, Sizzlen Hot Herbie and Natasha Day tucked away third on the rail. Esquire (Tyler Borth) led the pack into a :29 opening panel and Heavy Dude E (Ryan Desroche) followed in second. At the 1:00 half, Sizzlen Hot Herbie made a first-over move to challenge the leader. Sizzlen Hot Herbie took over the lead with a one-length advantage over Esquire at the three-quarters in 1:29. Day hit the gas around the turn and won by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:59.1. Esquire was second and Jayport Hi Class (Greg Dustin) finished third.
Sizzlen Hot Herbie is a nine-year-old gelded son of Here Comes Herbie. Day owns and trains the career winner of 28 races and $246,100 in earnings.
