In a harness racing rarity, the post position order in Friday's second race at Western Fair District proved to be the final outcome of the race.
Seven trotters lined up in post position order behind the starting gate for the $8,800 conditioned trot, and after two laps around the half-mile track, the field crossed the finish line in the exact same order they started.
Favourite Talbot Eh Plus ($2.90) led the charge from the inside post and cruised unchallenged through quarter panels of :29.2, 1:00.1 and 1:30 before crossing the finish line in 2:01 over a 'good' track. Zorgwijk Tim fought off a first-up Super T for the runner-up role and they were followed by Warrawee Usain, Nifty Trick, Possible Credit, who was ineffective in her attempt to improve position leaving the gate, and Massivepajamaparty.
Scott Coulter drove the winning Kadabra mare, who is trained by Don Johnson for owners Mike Timpano, Seaspray Stables Ltd., and Frank Tucci. Talbot Eh Plus had won her first two starts of the year at The Raceway and returned for her third seasonal success after a pair of outings at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The victory was her 10th lifetime and pushed her earnings over $60,000.
