Two divisions of the Charles Singer Memorial went postward Thursday evening at The Meadowlands, and longshot players had a field day with No Less Than Magic and Volare De Vie upsetting in their respective trotting tilts.

No Less Than Magic rallied from far back to take his $15,000 division in 1:55.3 for driver Pat Lachance. The four-year-old son of Kadabra-Soutaine Hanover, who was sent off at odds of 30-1, used a :28-second closing quarter to prevail by 1-1/2 lengths over Where To Hanover. Sweet Ben rounded out the top three finishers.

Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman trains the gelding, who won for the first time in six seasonal starts, for Herb Liverman, Mel Hartmann and David McDuffee. The two-time winner bumped his lifetime earnings to $69,531 with the victory.

Volare De Vie erupted for a 33-1 upset in the second division for the tandem of driver Jim Meittinis and trainer Henrik Lundell. The four-year-old son of Yankee Glide-Only Dreaming enjoyed a ground-saving trip for most of the mile before springing loose late and using a :29.3 closing quarter to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Pittstop Ruthie in 1:55.1. Odds-on favourite Real Babe had a wide trip and was forced to settle for third.

It was the first win of the season in six starts for Volare De Vie, who is owned by Joie De Vie Farm LLC of Jobstown, NJ. The gelding, who is a four-time winner, boosted his career cash stash to $44,505 with the victory.

Thursday’s card also featured the second leg of the Winter Survivor Series. Trainer Ron Burke teamed up with driver Yannick Gingras to win with Killer Quakes (1:51.4), Boiler Bob The QB (1:51.3) and Oil Magnet (1:51.2) while the other $15,000 division went to Cambassador (1:52.1) for driver John Campbell and trainer Mark Silva.
