Flamboro Feature To Lady London

It was a case of cross border winning for Lady London, who shipped in from Buffalo and wired up five foes in Thursday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Handicap for pacers at Flamboro Downs.

Lady London shot to the lead from Post 3 for driver Billy Davis, Jr., who hustled his charge through panels of ;:27.4, :57 and 1:25 before using a :30-second closing quarter to win by a head over Outlaw Imahotvixen in 1:55. Race favourite Buttermilk Hanover was a lapped-on and late-driving third.

Sabrina Shaw trains the seven-year-old daughter of Big Jim-Maddam Luck for VHF Racing LLC of Rochester Hills, MI. It was the first win of the season for the distaffer who is now a 23-time winner to date. She’s banked just shy of $160,000 to date.

SOS Bambie also used a front-stepping approach to capture the $8,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers earlier on the card.

Travis Henry rolled the favourite to the lead from Post 1 and together they sliced out splits of :28, :57.4 and 1:27 before scooting home in :29.4 to win by three-quarters of a length over Amethyst Seelster in 1:56.4. Filly Forty Seven put up a good first from first over and wound up third.

Carmen Auciello trains the seven-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-Rose Bonheur for owner Ryan MacDonald of Halifax, NS. It was the first win of the season – and the 15th to date – for the career winner of $124,299.
